Your notes, trash and recent versions are stored on this device through IndexedDB. A saved note stays available when you reopen this browser.
Write offline
After the site loads once, the offline cache helps you reopen Desknotes without internet. You can continue editing your existing notes locally.
Make your own backups
Export all notes as JSON and import them later. You can also download an individual note as a TXT file.
Good to know before you start
Where are my notes stored?
Desknotes stores them in the browser on the device you use. It does not currently sync notes to another phone or computer.
Can browser cleanup delete my notes?
Yes. Private browsing, clearing website data or browser storage cleanup can remove local notes. Save JSON backups regularly, especially for important information.
Does this require a subscription?
No. The current public beta supports writing, searching and exporting local notes without an account or payment.
